A little bit Nantucket & A little bit Cottage Chic

Who doesn't love a personal style quiz - right? I love them and Sproost has a great one to try and I liked how the results turned out. It said I was 67% Cottage Chic and 33% Nantucket which tells me I am one beachy kind of lady. I dream of living near the beach someday but until then, I'll incorporate the beachy feel into my house.

I love the furniture and how it's laid out in the room above.
It's so airy and relaxing.
The furniture and room layout still has me wishing for warmer days at the beach.
The coffee table and accessories are perfect.
And here's my favorite room of all.

 One beautiful picture wall.
Love, love, love this coffee table!
I've been eyeing one just like it for about a year.
 Furniture and rug are perfect.
And look at that cute dog relaxing on the coach - reminds me of our living room.

You Capture - What Inspires Me.

This week's You Capture topic over at I Should Be Folding Laundry is all about what inspires me. Here's a few pictures that I took that inspire me.

Seeing the world differently through my camera lens.

Trying something new - taken during my macro class this past weekend.
Appreciating the beauty of the simplest things.
 Freedom!
Getting up early on a Sunday morning to go for a nature walk.
 Beauty from a different perspective.

The list of things that inspire me go on, and on, and on but this is what has been inspiring me lately. Interested in joining the You Capture Challenge, learn more here.

P.S. Santa is coming early this year and I am getting my present on Thursday. A new camera? Possibly....

HGTV Urban Oasis Giveaway

HGTV is giving away a Manhattan apartment that was designed by my boyfriend Vern Yip and I plan on entering twice a day and win this baby. I've never been to NYC but I know I'd love it because I love other large cities. Plus what's not to love about a Manhattan apartment that's worth $1.5 million dollars!!!! The apartment is located on the 34th floor of the W Hotel and has a killer view. Here's a few pictures to show the beauty of this apartment.

W Hotel - 34th floor Manhattan apartment

Living Room
I really like the gray couch and all of the metal accents.

Living Room
A fuller view of the living room and the office area, aren't the large windows gorgeous?

Living Room View
Killer view.........

Foyer

Kitchen
The kitchen is truly gorgeous and the backsplash is very modern. I like that the dining room is so close and so is the laundry room (my new favorite place these days).

Laundry Area/Kitchen

Dining Room/Living Room view
Aren't the ghost chairs beautiful?

Bedroom
This is very similar to the size of our bedroom so I love seeing how they used the space. I only wish I had a view like that with a window seat. There is also a lot more closet space which is a huge plus.

I think the walls, flooring, but most of all the toilet are uber-cool!

Last but not least....The View!!!

I'm Stumped

I'm excited to be working on a new project soon that I've wanted to tackle for a while. What I thought would be easy turned out to be a bit more difficult than I thought. Getting my hands on a stump has been like a scavenger hunt to say the least. I put my dad and grandpa up to the challenge because I knew I would end up with a really good stump if I put them on the task. My dad ended up getting a great sized stump from a golf course that wanted about 30 perfectly good trees cut down. While it makes me sad to hear that these trees are being cut down, I am now the lucky owner of a gorgeous oak tree stump. I will need to drive back home to pick it up but then I'll be working on my masterpiece. Here's what I plan on doing with my new stump - turning it into a one of a kind end table. I am still dreaming about the possibilities but it'll be gorgeous once it's done. In the meantime here's some inspirational photos to look at.

In addition to the gorgeous stump, I LOVE the galvanized headboard and wood planked walls. The gray and yellow accent colors are awesome as well.
Another view.
A different twist to the stump. Turning it gray made it oh so chic. There isn't anything in this photo that I don't love. The lines and upholstery on the chair has me drooling along with punches of yellow and gray.
A close-up of the gray end table...I'm seeing a gray theme here.

HGTV Green Home 2010

There is only 16 days left in the HGTV Green Home 2010 giveaway and I can't believe I haven't shared it with all of you. Maybe it's because secretly I think the less people that I tell about the giveaway, the better my odds are of winning this home! Not only would you win this beautiful green home in Cape Cod, but you'd also win a new GMC Terrain, and $100,000!!! Do I have your interest - if so visit the HGTV Green Home website to enter. Just remember me if you win and keep the guest room ready for me to appear at a moment's notice.... Oh wait, it only has 2 bedrooms? I'll just stay in the tower or the laundry room - no worries!

The wrap-around porch is the one thing I dream of having someday. You don't see them very often where I live so I'll probably have to venture down south to make this dream come true.
I love the white wood walls. Normally I'm not a huge fan of white kitchens but this one is gorgeous. I'd love that double oven too.

I love the hanging chandelier that is made out of an old factory metal basket.
Why didn't I think of that?
The Laundry Room - My favorite room of all!
If I won this house I'd even be willing to do ALL of the laundry and not even complain about it. I'd feel like Martha Stewart in this laundry room/mudroom/recycling center.
The queen size bed would be the first thing to go but I love the soothing shades of blue.
Gorgeous!
Is that a cool bunk bed for kids or what? I slept in bunk beds as a kid but I can promise you it wasn't this cool looking!
My second favorite room - the tower!!! I would hide in here for hours reading, napping, and blogging. How cool would this be.....

Remember that you can enter the giveaway daily but only for the next 16 days so make it count. However if we aren't lucky enough to win remember that there are many things you can do to live green as well. This home may have been certified with the gold standard, but there are little things that you can do to make a big difference.

I Designed the Cutest Bangle Purse

I designed the cutest bangle purse and I want to tell you all about it! At the end of November I attended a purse party but this wasn’t your normal, hide in the basement and purchase knock-off’s type party. I actually got to design the purse that I would use on a night out on the town with some of the most beautiful fabrics available.  After selecting the fabric, trim, and accessories for my purse – I left the hard work of sewing my design to Alexa Holzworth of LexiWynn Designs. Alexa is the owner and designer of her own custom made handbags and she is one creative lady!

Alexa has a blog and a website if you want to see more of her creations. Her designs are sold exclusively through home parties and I am in the midst of booking a party with her soon. Cosmo’s, good friends, and purses on a Friday night – what more does a girl need?

Interested in the process?

First – you select the style of purse. Do you want a tote, purse, diaper bag, messenger bag, or a cute little bangle purse? The choice is all yours and you have lots of samples to view to get some ideas.

Second – you select the fabrics you would like to use and if you want any other custom work on your purse. For example I added some rick rack ribbon to mine. I also had a bangle attached to the end of the wristlet so I could keep the wristlet on my wrist and have jewelry on all at the same time.

Third – place your order and anxiously await Alexa to sew up your masterpiece. She does all of the work so patience is key, especially if you are ordering right before the holidays. But it was WELL worth the wait and I can’t wait to use it!

LOVE IT – LOVE IT – LOVE IT!!!

It’s very “me” and I only wish I could now design an entire room around these fabrics. Oh wait – now I’m on to something……..
